Can I change the email address or postcode that I use for the survey?
Yes, you can change your email address or postcode by contacting us at Madeleine.Hinwood@newcastle.edu.au. Please don’t register for the study again, as your old information will not be linked to the new email address.
I’m moving interstate or to a different region. Can I still participate?
Yes, you can still participate in our FOCUS-R surveys if you are moving to another state. FOCUS-R is an Australia-wide research initiative, which is open to all residents of Australia. If you are moving within Australia, all you need to do is update your postcode, which can be done by contacting us and advising us of your new postcode. If you move outside of Australia, you will no longer be able to participate.
What should I do if I have made a mistake when responding to the survey?
In order to maintain the anonymity of your responses, we are unable to update your answers. Please carefully check your answers before submitting each survey. If you'd prefer your answers to be deleted, you can contact us at Madeleine.Hinwood@newcastle.edu.au.
I’ve stopped receiving emails from you. Why is this?
On occasion, our emails may get blocked by automatic SPAM filters. Please add Madeleine.Hinwood@newcastle.edu.au as a ‘safe sender’ to prevent this from happening.
How long will my data be stored for?
Research data will be securely stored at the University of Newcastle for the duration required under the State Records Act 1998, in accordance with our institutional policy and the Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research, 2018.
What if I am away on holidays and miss the survey?
If you are only away for a week or so, you can still complete the survey when you return. Each email you receive has a link that corresponds to a particular reporting fortnight, and the link is valid for 10 days from receipt of the email. Simply click on the email and answer the questions for that 2 week period. If it is more than 10 days since you received the email, you will be unable to fill out that survey, but you can just start up again with the next fortnightly survey invitation.
If you are going to be away for an extended period of time (e.g. >2 weeks), you can contact us to place your profile on hold. Otherwise, you can click on the unsubscribe tab to stop receiving survey invitations. If at any time you wish to start participating again, contact us and we can re-activate your profile.
I have a suggestion for the survey. How should I go about this?
We appreciate any feedback and welcome any suggestions. You can get in contact with us by emailing us at Madeleine.Hinwood@newcastle.edu.au.
Can I invite my family, friends, or work colleagues?
You can invite someone to participate by sending them a link to this website - they can read all about the survey before deciding to take part.

University of Newcastle Australia's Privacy and Information Access Policy
I really don’t want any of my information shared on this website, but I still want to participate?
